Seachios® Marine Services is proud to announce the successful installation and activation of our first AIS Base Station in collaboration with MarineTraffic / Kpler, reinforcing our commitment to innovation and maritime intelligence in Brazil.
The new unit, officially designated SEACHIOS KPLER 22B – Station ID 8302, is strategically located at the Port of Itaqui, in São Luís, Maranhão (Latitude: -2.49082 / Longitude: -44.240978), operating at an elevation of 50 meters above sea level. The installation marks a significant milestone in Seachios’ expansion toward supporting digital maritime infrastructure along Brazil’s northern coast.
A Strategic Step for Smarter Shipping
With the deployment of this station, Seachios extends its contribution beyond operational services such as cargo hold cleaning, tank preparation, and sensitive cargo compliance, by actively improving the Automatic Identification System (AIS) network that supports shipowners, charterers, agents, and port authorities in real time.
By partnering with MarineTraffic / Kpler, one of the world’s leading providers of vessel intelligence and global maritime data, Seachios is not only strengthening AIS coverage in the region but also contributing to safer and more transparent navigation in one of Brazil’s most important export hubs.

Station Performance and Coverage
In its first operational phase, SEACHIOS KPLER 22B has achieved remarkable performance indicators:
Availability: 100% (22 hours online since activation)
Average Reception Distance: 11.46 NM
Maximum Reception Distance: 28.34 NM
Coverage Area: 1,107 km² (currently expanding)
Distinct Vessels Detected in One Hour: 34 vessels / 1,097 AIS positions
Historical data projections show a steady 43 NM maximum coverage radius, equivalent to an effective area of approximately 1,358.6 km², ensuring consistent signal reception across the São Marcos Bay and surrounding shipping channels.
Technology and Equipment
The system is powered by a Comar Systems SLR450Ni (CM4) dual-channel AIS receiver, designed for high-sensitivity reception and long-range maritime data acquisition. This device, combined with optimized antenna placement and real-time data synchronization with MarineTraffic’s global servers, ensures continuous monitoring of vessel movements in and out of the Port of Itaqui and nearby terminals.
A Partnership Anchored in Innovation
This collaboration with MarineTraffic / Kpler reinforces Seachios’ vision of integrating operational maritime services with cutting-edge digital solutions.
Our long-term goal is to build a national network of AIS stations supporting both local port efficiency and the global maritime data ecosystem — providing greater visibility for shipowners, charterers, operators, and logistics stakeholders.
